MDL’s Marina dei Cesari in Fano, Italy, is set to welcome the stars of the Italian chess circuit this weekend, as the marina hosts the prestigious 2011 Italian Chess Championships. The venue for the competition will be an outdoor covered concert area – adjacent to the marina’s exclusive J Lounge – which is renowned for hosting high profile events at the marina throughout the year, including the popular Fano Jazz Festival.
MDL Marinas has announced the arrival of a new weather expert to deliver the daily forecasts for all of its UK marinas. Dr. Simon Keeling – a self-confessed weather anorak since he was nine years old – has over 20 years experience in the weather industry and is an expert in forecasting for sailors around the UK. A regular columnist in the yachting press, Simon has previously presented weather forecasts on many TV networks, including BBC and GMTV.
MDL Marinas, Europe’s largest marina operator, has become the first UK marina group to offer diesel free from biofuels at its marina fuel stations. The move comes in response to growing concerns of boat owners, and sees MDL Marinas lead the way in the industry to become the first marina operator to meet the new British standard in this way.
Sant Carles Marina in Catalonia, MDL’s first Spanish location, has opened a fantastic berthing area designed specifically to easily accommodate catamarans in the Mediterranean. MDL is also offering catamaran owners the chance to enjoy berthing fees at the same competitive rates as monohull owners – with no additional surcharges for the beam size.
