A second day of inshore racing in the Giraglia Rolex Cup 2012 started today, with the participation of the largest and fastest boat on display, the 100ft superyacht Esimit Europa 2 as well as the Rolex Vulcano Race winner, the 62ft sailing yacht Jethou.
The 2nd edition of the Rolex Volcano Race was concluded with the Rolex party and prizegiving at La Canzone del Mare on Friday 25 May, with Sir Peter Ogden’s 60ft Mini Maxi yacht Jethou winning the Rolex Trophy and timepiece as well as the 112ft superyacht Nilaya receiving a Rolex timepiece as a line-honours winner.
The overall victory in the 2012 Rolex Volcano Race has gone to the 60ft yacht Jethou, followed by the 112ft luxury yacht Nilaya taking second place and the Wally 100 superyacht Y3K placing third.
The first vessel to finish the 300-nautical mile course of the 2012 Rolex Volcano Race was the Filip Balcaen’s 112ft superyacht Nilaya, followed by the Claus-Peter Offen’s 100ft sailing yacht Wally Y3K taking second place and the Sir Peter Ogden’s 60ft Mini Maxi yacht Jethou placing third.
Leg Two of the 2012 Rolex Volcano Race started today with a delay, at 18:00 CEST from Marina Piccola in Capri.

Today’s windward/leeward race, marking the beginning of the Rolex Volcano Race 2012 has been won by Sir Peter Ogden’s 60ft sailing yacht Mini Maxi Jethou.
