Young Queensland sailor Jessica Watson has been announced as Tourism Queensland’s 2010 – 2011 Sailing Ambassador by Tourism Parliamentary Secretary Steve Wettenhall and Tourism Minister Peter Lawlor.
Just two days shy of her 17th birthday, Watson sailed her 10-metre yacht Ella’s Pink Lady up Sydney Harbour, the same spot she left from almost seven months ago.
16 year old Jessica Watson will soon hold the title of the youngest person to sail around the world solo, non-stop and unassisted. She is expected to arrive in Sydney on Saturday the 15th of May to a hero’s welcome.
