With the presence of over 1,600 participating yachts, the 81st edition of the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race kicked off today. The race is attended by such spectacular vessels as the 100ft charter yacht ICAP Leopard or the 162ft superyacht Eleonora E (ex Eleonora).
The 81st J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race kicks off this Saturday, attended by an impressive number of 1,647 entries, including the luxury charter yacht Leopard 3, a holder of the race record.
The organisers of the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race have revealed the scene behind this famous yacht race, including a new photo gallery, GPS tracking facility, Live Race Viewer, Live Race Blog, EventTV as well as an unique opportunity to win an amazing 5-night stay in a luxurious hotel.
The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust has become once again the Official Race Charity of the famous J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race, starting at 0700 on Saturday 30th June.
Saturday 30th June 2011 saw a new entry to the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race: the 49.5m charter yacht Eleonora, launched in March 2000 by the Dutch Van der Graaf shipyard. This amazing vessel will be sailed by famous Ben Ainslie, that will co-helm with the vessel´s owner, helped by the vessel´s captain Mike McMillan.
Sailing yacht Savannah, the 90ft J Class replica owned by yachtsman Hugh Morrison will be competing in the 2012 J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race.
100´ sailing yacht ICAP Leopard returns to compete in the 2012 J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race to defend her most recent and the current monohull record set in 2008 at a time of 3.53.05.
Entries are now officially open for the 2012 J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race, with the first race start scheduled for 0700 on Saturday 30th June.
4th Nautica Outstanding Seamanship Award was received by ´Man Overboard´ skippers during the 80th Anniversary J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race.
