Skipper Sidney Gavignet onboard the Trimaran sailing yacht Oman Air Majan is in the final stages of his attempt to break the single handed Round Britain and Ireland record. Forecasts predict sailing yacht Oman Air Majan to finish tomorrow between 0800 – 1100 GMT off Lizard Point, Cornwall. If the record pace continues Oman Air Majan will break the existing record by over 24 hours.

Sailing yacht Oman Air Majan continued to make good progress heading north towards the Shetland Isles on day three of the Round Britain and Ireland Record attempt. On Day four, the record pace remained and the trimaran Oman Air Majan skippered by Sidney Gavignet is now west of the British Isles after passing through one of the biggest low pressure systems on this trip so far.
Sidney Gavignet, skipper of the Arabian 100 trimaran Oman Air Majan, is attempting to break the single-handed Round Britain and Ireland record. Sailing yacht Oman Air Majan crossed the start line off the Lizard Point, Cornwall UK on Thursday the 19th of August 2010. The record attempt forms part of his training for the single handed transatlantic Route du Rhum race later this year.
The RORC have decided to reverse the course of the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race due to a severe weather forecast for the west coast of Ireland predicted for Thursday 26th August. The fleet will now race anti-clockwise around Britain and Ireland. The start remains unchanged from the Royal Yacht Squadron line to the east at 14.00. This should give the fleet a fast running start towards the forts in the Solent.
