This year’s 27th edition of Rolex China Sea Race is set to start tomorrow, on April 16. The race will be attended by a strong fleet of 34 yachts, including such impressive vessels as the 100ft superyacht Wild Oats IX.
The new record has been set by the 90-foot superyacht Ragamuffin (ex Genuine Risk) in the Audi Hong Kong Vietnam Race. This spectacular vessel was built by McConaghy Boats to a design by Dubois Naval Architects.

The sole participating Maxi, Geoff Hill’s sailing yacht Genuine Risk, won the Sunday Telegraph Trophy for Line Honours as well as a Rolex Yacht-Master timepiece at the 50th Rolex China Sea Race. The Overall title on corrected time went to the Singaporean entry Zanzibar, who also laid claim to a Rolex Yacht-Master timepiece in addition to inscribing their victory in the record books of Rolex China Sea Race history.

Current fleet leader of the 2012 Rolex China Sea Race, Geoff Hill’s sailing yacht Genuine Risk, is currently (1700 hrs UTC +8) 106.9nm from the finish and is expected to arrive in Subic Bay around 0038 this evening.
