The winners of the Marina of the Year Awards 2015 were announced by The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA) at the recently concluded CWM FX London Boat Show. The Superyacht Marina of the Year 2015 Award went to Porto Montenegro, nestled in the lovely Montenegro yacht vacation location.
The outstanding 2014 fundraising campaign by cycling team Cogs4Cancer presented a cheque for €285,560.06 to Cancer Research UK aboard the Sunseeker 28 Metre Yacht at the 2015 London Boat Show. In the past 2 years, the Cogs4Cancer team has raised over €400,000 for Cancer Research UK and local French charities.
The recently concluded CWM FX London Boat Show 2015 has been a huge success. The event attracted 92,288 visitors. Next year’s London Boat Show will run from January 8 to 17.
This year’s SuperyachtDESIGN Week will be hosted by Design Centre at London’s Chelsea Harbour from June 23 to 25. The inspiring keynotes as well as interactive workshops will give guests access to some of the world’s most creative minds.
The all-new website has been launched by Shuttleworth Design, creators of the award-winning superyacht Adastra. The UK studio has also unveiled their latest yacht designs, including the 80M, 70M and 32M trimarans.
The winner of the inaugural Superyacht UK Design competition has become David Rowles, a third year student from Coventry University. Sponsored by BMT Nigel Gee as well as Pendennis Shipyard, the competition is designed to raise the profile of the essential hand-drawing skill.
In recent months, Pendennis has seen two apprentice courses graduate, with 18 young people moving on to full time careers at the Falmouth superyacht shipyard. A new group of Surface Finishing Apprentices will begin their three-year course later this month. Two of the final year Apprentices were recognised for their hard work and high standard of training as they were selected as second and fourth place in the annual Worshipful Company of Shipwrights Queen’s Silver Medal.
At least three of the majestic J Class yachts – sailing yacht Lionheart, charter yacht Ranger and superyacht Velsheda -will attend the upcoming 2015 Royal Yacht Squadron Bicentenary International Regatta, running in July.
