Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. received recognition for its shipboard “Building On Talent” leadership development program during this year’s Seatrade Awards Ceremonial Dinner. The ceremony, which took place at the Guildhall in London on April 14, 2011, included over 350 of the maritime industry’s key players, and celebrated the outstanding contributions made over the last year for safe, efficient and environmentally friendly shipping. During the awards gala, the Royal Caribbean was presented the “Investment in People” award.
American Cruise Lines announced the name of its brand new 140 passenger Mississippi sternwheeler – Queen of the Mississippi – currently under construction and two months ahead of schedule at Chesapeake Shipbuilding Corp. in Salisbury, MD. American Cruise Lines has also unveiled the first renderings of the ship’s interior, including those of the future dining salon, Paddlewheel Lounge and passenger staterooms.
Proudly watching over Celebrity Reflection her sister ship’s start, Celebrity Silhouette is in the midst of the final phases of her own construction. Celebrity Silhouette Cruise ship will set sail in July of this year. The Celebrity Silhouette Cruise ship will be identical in size (122,000 tons) to the three previous ships in the Solstice Class, the Celebrity Solstice (2008), Celebrity Equinox (2009), and Celebrity Eclipse (2010). However, she will have 17 additional staterooms including 8 concierge class, 8 ocean view, and 2 inside cabins.

Northrop Grumman Corporation’s Sperry Marine business unit supplied the navigation, communication and safety systems for Royal Caribbean’s newest cruise ship, Allure of the Seas, which just completed its maiden voyage from its shipyard in Finland to its home port in Port Everglades, Fla.
World’s largest and most innovative cruise ship, The Allure of the Seas was delivered on 28 October 2010, by STX’s Turku Shipyard to the American shipowners Royal Caribbean International. Allure of the Seas is the sister ship of Oasis of the Seas delivered a year ago.
