Australian companies once again impressed at this year’s 2010 Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) in Amsterdam.The show reported a small increase in visitors over 2009 and with over 1300 exhibitors this show continues to be the most significant marine show for Australian exporters.

AIMEX and SYBA sign an agreement

Two key marine industry organizations have signalled a positive move forward for the Australian marine industry by signing a landmark agreement to work closer together.

Under the new agreement, the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX), the peak body for Australian marine exporters, will manage the day to day operations of Super Yacht Base Australia (SYBA) the peak body for the Australian superyacht sector.

GST Tax relief for overseas buyers of Australian yachts.

The Australian government has agreed to remove the Goods and Services Tax (GST) payable on all boats purchased by overseas buyers, provided the boat is used for recreational purposes in Australian waters for 12 months.
