The Giraglia Rolex Cup celebrated its 60th anniversary with a thrilling 2012 race, marking the overall victory of the Franck Nöel’s TP52 sailing yacht Near Miss as well as the race record set by the 100ft superyacht Esimit Europa 2.
This year’s Giraglia Rolex Cup saw the McConaghy built 100ft luxury sailing yacht Esimit Europa 2 designed by well known Reichel Pugh break her record, completing the race in 14h 56′ 16”.
The overall victory in this year’s Giraglia Rolex Cup, marked by the record smashed by the 100ft superyacht Esimit Europa 2, has been confirmed for the Franck Nöel’s TP52 sailing yacht Near Miss.

The Yacht Club of Saint-Petersburg’s Swan 60 yacht Bronenosec, with Russian as well as Italian crew aboard, is trying to bring the Russian sailing back on the map. Supported by Gazprom, this splendid vessel is currently racing in the 60th edition of the Giraglia Rolex Cup from St Tropez, France to Sanremo, Italy, leaving St Tropez for Genoa today.
Today 13 June saw the departure of 170 yachts racing in this year’s Giraglia Rolex Cup from St Tropez, France heading to Sanremo, Italy. The absolure favourite of the race is the 100ft superyacht Esimit Europa 2, closely followed by the 62ft sailing yacht Jethou.
Based on a long-term partnership, the Esimit Europa project will team up with the BMW Group Central Eastern Europe, becoming an official partner of the Esimit Europa project, which symbol is the 100ft luxury yacht Esimit Europa 2, currently competing in the 60th Giraglia Rolex Cup.
Three days of inshore competition at this year’s Giraglia Rolex Cup brought a great success for a high number of Swan yachts, competing in this popular race from St Tropez, France to Sanremo, Italy. The Swan 53 sailing yacht Ondine placed first in the IRC B fleet, while the Swan 45 luxury yacht Mandolino took second place in the ORC A fleet, along with the Swan 60 yacht Bronenosec, placing third in the IRC o fleet.
