43.3m/142ft luxury foiling yacht CANOVA, part of the BALTIC 142 series from Baltic Yachts, is preparing for launch at the shipyard facilities in Finland. More images have been released to showcase the incredible sailing yacht:

The design for S/Y CANOVA comes from Farr Yacht Design in conjunction with Gurit, who together created a long-distance cruise for her Owner.

She is fitted with an innovative Dynamic Stability System (DSS) and the yacht’s keel assembly has been fitted over the past week in preparation for an upcoming launch.

Among the outstanding features is a 9m/29.5ft moving foil developed by Infiniti Yachts that will be located at the widest part of the beam. The purpose of the foil will be to ensure greater stability at higher speeds, making for a more comfortable and safe journey for both guests and crew. When deployed leeward, the foil will mitigate some of the pitch while simultaneously increasing speed, similar to America’s Cup racing yachts.

Superyacht CANOVA is expected to reach a top speed of 25 knots in flat water conditions as well as in wind. A pair of generators and a Lithium-ion battery bank allow for a quiet mode which can run for extended periods of time.

The diesel-electric drive system will also be quieter in noise and vibrations, more efficient and more compact than conventional motors for sailing yachts of the same size: A permanent magnet motor is connected to the propeller shaft and water cooling is required for the system to work at peak output.

While the DSS has successfully been installed on sailing yachts of a smaller size, however, Baltic Yachts will be the first superyacht builder to incorporate the technology into one of their own designs. S/Y CANOVA is expected to launch this spring 2019.
