The breathtaking motor yacht Nirvana (Project Y707) is the latest luxury vessel that has been nominated for The International Yacht and Aviation Awards 2013. Submitted by Sam Sorgiovanni Designs, responsible for both the interior as well as exterior styling, the Oceanco-built mega yacht Nirvana is currently available for sale.

Here, Sam Sorgiovanni reveals the thought process behind his approach to designing the impressive build:
“The client’s brief was very clear, ‘create the most impressive yacht of its type’. A huge challenge when we consider the many stunning and impressive yachts in this 80-90m size range.
Superyacht Nirvana had to be extremely functional and aesthetically impressive. The yacht’s features include a fully enclosed foredeck, enclosed tender and sports store, aft pool deck and a fully certified helicopter landing deck. The functional aspects of the design shaped the proportions of the yacht in true ‘form follows function’ philosophy.
That said, the yacht’s lines are sleek and uniquely timeless. The timber feature, which has become a signature feature of many of my designs, is used to emphasise the long sleek hull and add a nostalgic elegance.
Nirvana yacht’s superstructure is restrained in a functional sense creating a mature, robust form that evokes strength. Her swept back funnels and wings contribute to create a sleek silhouette that complements the curvaceous and distinctive hull lines.
As a whole, I believe that the profile of Nirvana is an obvious progression from the style of charter yacht Anastasia. The overall objective was to create a more mature look but with an obvious family connection that is familiar with most of my work.
