The Scorpion Selene 97 chase boat slipped its tow from its mother ship, the 120-foot Benetti yacht Sea Bluez, in the South Adriatic off the Italian coast near Brindisi. The weather had worsened with SE winds of 30 to 40 knots, the sea state was too rough to return and attempt a safe recovery. The weather remained at gale force winds for a few days, with waves reaching 4 to 5 metres. The Scorpion Selene 97 yacht tender is assumed lost.

Four days later nearly 100 miles away, an Albania fishing boat is out after the few days of storms, finds the Scorpion Selene 97 superyacht tender and takes it in to tow. It is lifted ashore, apart from some damage to the bow caused when the fishing boat took it under tow, there is little else, the engine room is completely dry and plans are made to return it to its owners.

Captain Robert Beeke of motor yacht Sea Bluez: “We have had the Scorpion for over four years and it has been invaluable, but to get it back unharmed after such an adventure is incredible and a testament to Scorpions design and build quality.”
