Originally launched by the Spanish builder Freire Shipyard in 2011, the impressive 73,60-metre expedition yacht NAIA, formerly known as ‘Pegaso’, has recently undergone a three-month refit at her home yard. The refit of luxury motor yacht NAIA started at the beginning of January 2014, and she left the Freire facilities at the end of March 2014.

Freire Shipyard had carried out numerous works during NAIA yacht’s three-month stay at the yard. These included a conversion of the original laboratory into two staff cabins. Structural works, piping, cabling and HVAC have been realised by Freire, with carpenter work carried out by Metrica and multimedia by AV&IT. The lighting was done by Aqualuce. Luxury yacht NAIA also received new stern thrusters. The shipyard replaced the damaged Van der Veldens with new Voith thrusters. Additional standard dry-dock works have been carried out, including antifouling, anodes, propeller and rudder readings.

Expedition yacht NAIA (ex Pegaso) represents one of the world’s largest private luxury research vessels, and features numerous impressive amenities on board. One of these is the 9-metre submarine with a capacity for six people to dive up to 165m deep. Accommodation on board NAIA is provided in six cabins to twelve guests in total. Her massive 10,000 nautical mile range allows her to cruise from Spain to Australia and back, without refuelling.
