Lloyd’s Register is now offering a verification service the ‘Clean Shipping Index’ to shipowners and operators wishing to demonstrate their success in reducing the environmental impact of their activities beyond the requirements of classification or statutory rules and regulations. The service is cost effective and can be delivered with minimal interruption to ship operations.

The VELUX 5 OCEANS has announced the dates of the starts of the five ocean sprints in the 2010/11 edition of the race. The race will start and end in the French port of La Rochelle France, in between visiting Cape Town in South Africa, Wellington in New Zealand, Salvador in Brazil and Charleston in the USA.

The superyacht Blue Force which was infamously seized by Italian Police – claiming the yacht was not for charter – have now released her back to her owner. Superyacht owner Flavio Briatore – the former Renault boss – has the 60-metre luxury yacht ‘Force Blue’ was seized a month ago. The Italian police have now handed it back.
