The majestic Oyster 82 sailing yacht ZIG ZAG placed second in her class at the 6th edition of the popular Superyacht Challenge Antigua, which took place from January 29 to 31, 2016. The race hosted eleven entries for the three days of exciting competing along the fabulous south coast of Antigua.

ZIG ZAG participated for the first time this year. She was part of the five-strong Class B, against the 128’ Dubois-designed Tenaz, the 102’ ketch Marama, the 108’ Dubois-designed sloop SeaQuell, and the 126’ schooner Gloria.

Interviewed after Race Day Two, Zig Zag Skipper Phil Howard Smith, was very satisfied with her performance. “What is really pleasing is that we are sailing the boat well and that is being rewarded in the rating system being used. We are getting off the line with good speed and the upwind team and the downwind team are driving and trimming the boat extremely well.”

With more and more Superyacht regattas adopting the ORC SY handicap rule and being open to boats over 80ft, it is a great opportunity for the 33 Oyster vessels built to date over 80ft to take part in these prestigious regattas.

With Zig Zag’s amazing result and the Oyster 825 Maegan’s class win and second overall in the Palma Superyacht Cup 2015, the next regatta to be attended by Oyster yachts will be the Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta. Set to run from March 9 to 12 March, the race will host the Oyster 82 Pandemonium, the Oyster 825 Maegan, as well as the Oyster 885 Guardian Angel.

Moreover, the organisers of the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta in Sardinia’s Porto Cervo, running from June 7 to 11, have offered class prizes to the Oyster fleet, if 10 or more Oyster boats will attend.
