Few details are ever released by Lurrsen regarding the company’s in-build yachts and even the name PROJECT LIGHTNING was given by local yacht spotters.

As PROJECT SHU advances toward her delivery schedule of 2018, it is known that she has an L.O.A. of 136m/479ft and in comparison, PROJECT LIGHTNING seems to be slightly larger: once completed, the latter motor yacht is expected to be in the top 20 largest superyachts in the world. As such, deck space is vast and amenities are expected to include two helipads and a voluminous beach club, while cut-outs along the hull suggest that the bulwark will fold down to offer sea terraces.

The naval architects and interior and exterior designers have not yet been announced but it is possible that PROJECT LIGHTNING is delivered before 2020 depending on the time-frame for installing the interior equipment and fittings.

Lurssen is currently working on 95m/312ft PROJECT FIJI and 111m/364ft PROJECT TIS as well as four luxury yachts above 130m/427ft, including the 135m/443ft PROJECT THUNDER and a 146m/479ft motor yacht which has yet to be named.

The 130m/427ft+ superyacht named by local yacht spotters as PROJECT LIGHTNING has been captured on camera as she moves into the main Lurssen build shed.
