Hamburg-based design studio, Katharina Raczek Design has announced their collaboration with Tilman Kriesel Art Advisors GmbH (TKA), a highly professional full service art consultancy. The two companies are currently working together on a 100m+ explorer yacht refit project, which has seen them collaborate on the art concept for the vessel, source unique security systems, install bespoke lighting solutions and find 100 per cent sun-proof glass.

“As an interior designer you get the opportunity to work with some really special pieces of art,” comments Katharina Raczek. “But incorporating high value art into your design comes down to more than just selecting the pieces and hanging them up.”

Established by Tilman Kriesel, a passionate art lover with a strong family heritage of collecting and working with galleries and museums, TKA’s extensive advisory experience ranges from acquisitions, commissioning and discrete handling of premium art works to security, insurance and installation.

Artist Astor Milan Salcedo, a partner at TKA, explains that not all aspects of art on superyachts are particularly glamorous but it is all important. “Navigating customs and export regulations when transporting pieces to a shipyard, for example, involves significant knowledge of where a painting can be stored or even framed,” he says. “Similarly, understanding how to mitigate exposure to light, humidity, movement and safety issues can protect these high value assets from expensive damage. It demands years’ worth of experience and expertise.”
