The respected UK luxury yacht builder, Sunseeker International, is pleased to report that it has been issued ISM (DOC) certification. A Document of Compliance (DOC) is received by a company when the Safety Management System is found to fully meet the requirements of the ISM Code.

Following an MCA audit, the certificate confirms and highlights the company’s efforts to meet the requirements of the International Safety Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention. Sunseeker is the only UK yacht manufacturer to receive this certification.
Sir Alan Massey, Chief Executive of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), said: “The MCA has worked closely with Sunseeker for more than a year to bring the trials and testing procedures of a UK super-yacht constructor and operator up to the international standard of the ISM Code.
“The ISM Code is only mandatory for vessels over 500gt, therefore Sunseeker’s voluntary compliance shows exceptional dedication to achieving the highest operational and safety standards.”
Wayne Moore, Operations Director of Sunseeker International commented: ‘The process commenced in 2009 when our first Safety Management System (SMS) was published. This was then submitted to the MCA in April 2010 and since then; we have endeavoured to achieve the high standards required by the International Safety Management (ISM) Code. Amending and refining our SMS and strictly adhering to the practices laid out within has gained Sunseeker the recognition, trust and respect from the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) and thus the issue of this document.’
