The prominent UK-based luxury yacht design studio, Humphreys Yacht Design, has been nominated for the International Yacht & Aviation Award 2014, with their sailing yacht Tempus Fugit, entering the ‘Sailing Yacht up to 30 metre’ category.

Superyacht Tempus Fugit is the first Tempus 90, a ninety foot classically inspired blue water cruising sloop, with accommodation for seven guests and up to three crew.
The Humphreys designed Tempus 90 as the first in a range of classically inspired yachts that were influenced by the traditional lines of the original J Class. A new class of its own; spiritually close to its forebears, but developed in a number of ways to comply with contemporary lifestyle requirements.

When asked why the design works so well, Humphreys Yacht Design share: “The combination of a great looking yacht in the spirit of tradition, her speed on the race track and her excellent accommodation.”
The Tempus 90 is constructed from renewably sourced timber using modern cold moulded wood epoxy techniques that provides strength and stiffness. The interior fit out is sumptuous with furniture constructed from solid timber panels, the shower, heads and galley being lavishly fitted with marble 710kg in total.

The mechanical specification is high with a Cummins three hundred and five horsepower main engine and twin generators, to ease manoeuvring the hull is fitted with a large tunnel bow thruster. The Tempus is fitted with a full sewage treatment system and watermaker. Each cabin is fitted with air conditioning. The saloon, owner’s stateroom and both guest cabins are fitted with satellite television and audio systems. The galley has all mod cons with Cooker, Dishwasher, Microwave, Washing machine and drier as well as large freezer space and Icemaker.

Being constructed of wood gives the yacht huge strength, very good stiffness, great heat insulation and incredible quietness inside the hull.
