The Turkish shipyard Alia Yachts has announced the turning of the hull of the 36m shadow vessel to the 55-60m mothership superyacht Project Phi currently built at Royal Huisman in the Netherlands. The 36m yacht support vessel is due to be delivered in 2021. Both the support vessel and the mothership have been designed by Cor D Rover for exteriors and by Van Oossanen for naval architecture – in collaboration with Alia Yachts for a number of years now.

Support vessels are known to provide additional storage and assist with increasing the autonomy of the mothership. They are carefully designed to create just the right balance between utility and quality and to offer even greater yachting experience for the owner and guests, allowing for extra services and equipment.

The new 36m vessel will feature a 157sqm lazaretto and a 33sqm workshop and will have 199GT. She will be able to store and transport tenders and toys in addition to a small car and additional fuel for M/Y Project Phi. Additional crew accommodation with more laundry services will also available.

Powered by two CAT C32 Diesel engines, the support yacht will reach a top speed of 21 knots and have a range of 4,200 nautical miles at 12 knots, providing her with the autonomy to travel ahead of the mothership in order to get all the toys, tenders and services ready for the owner’s and guests’ arrival. She can also stay behind to load the tenders and toy, so the mothership can easily move onto the next destination without disruption and the need to wait. As mentioned, the support vessel will be delivered in 2021.
