Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts has announced that on the 3rd of November, the hull and superstructure of motor yacht PROJECT CASTOR (YN19055) were joined together at the Oss facility. The fourth hull in the 55M Steel series, superyacht PROJECT CASTOR features exterior styling by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects with interiors from another renowned studio – Bannenberg & Rowell.

She has a volume of 760 GT and uses a Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) the same as her sister ships, which was developed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects and provides excellent fuel efficiency at high speeds and while cruising. As a result of reduced resistance, smaller engines can be used which in turn leads to greater space on board as well as reduced noise and vibrations. In addition, her large Naiad-made stabiliser fins ensure roll reduction while at anchor.

Compared to her predecessors, PROJECT CASTOR has improvements including a full-beam sky lounge, a 73m²/785ft² Master suite, a VIP on the bridge deck instead of the lower deck, leaving the remaining cabins with greater capacity.

Other features of M/Y PROJECT CASTOR shared with sisterships include the ‘shark tooth’ overhang in the superstructure, open bulwarks and floor-to-ceiling windows along the main deck salon and the upper deck forward.

Using a pair of MTU 8V 4000 M63 main engines which meet Tier III emissions regulations, she can reach a top speed of 15.5 knots with a cruising speed of 13 knots and a fantastic transatlantic range of 4,500 nautical miles.
