The Dutch shipyard Hakvoort has opened a new slipway early this month, allowing them to build superyachts of 58 x 10.60 metres. They already raised the roof of their main construction shed by two metres in 2009 to build four-deck yachts.

Offering a maximum lift of 1000 tonnes, the slipway allows Hakvoort to build superyachts of 58 x 10.60 metres. This is part of the yard’s strategy to steadily grow in order to build larger yachts.

“We are now in a position to bid for new 50-metre-plus projects for delivery in early 2014,” says Klaas Hakvoort. “Our yard is highly competitive in this size bracket due to our lean overheads and very high quality levels.”
