RTW Food as Global Ocean Race Partner

The UK-based RTW Food, specialists in nutritional advice and food supplies for racing yachts and expeditions, have joined the Global_Ocean_Race  as a highly-valued Race Partner. The company’s involvement with the GOR 2011-12 will dramatically raise the quality of life and crew endurance onboard throughout the circumnavigation and significantly reduce the monotony of diet and the normally complex planning associated with preparing for a long offshore voyage.

Menu planning is a critical element for any long offshore race when crew energy levels, morale and general well-being are of the utmost importance. RTW (Round the World) Food offer tailored, team-specific provisioning, or standard ration packs to cater for most diets including coeliac, vegetarian and dairy-free diets.

Sailors can choose from a selection of set menu ration packs that include the complete and meticulously calculated nutritional requirements for the crew. These can be delivered packed in daily, or multi-day, dry bags ready to be stowed onboard the yacht for each leg of the race. Provision is made for hot and cold weather choices, so it is possible to choose packs that meet the specific requirements of each leg of the Global Ocean Race 2011-12. Generic and tailored nutritional advice can also be provided by RTW Food who are offering entrants in the Global Ocean Race 2011-12 a substantial discount on all their products and services.

“Our motto is: Don’t make a challenge more challenging than it needs to be…” explains Tim Johnson, Managing Director of RTW Food. “We are extremely pleased to be a Race Partner for the Global Ocean Race 2011-12 and we are looking forward to working with the entrants on all their food, nutritional and dietary requirements.”

Josh Hall, Race Director of the GOR, welcomes this important partner to the event. “With daily calorie demands of anywhere between 3,000 and 5,000 per day, dependent on the leg of the race, we recognize just how important the nutritional element will be for our teams,” says Hall. “With RTW Food onboard, they can access expert pre-race advice and order their victuals for the entire course.”
