Dutch shipyard Feadship has announced the successful refit of 24m/78.7ft classic luxury yacht CARAVELLE (ex. QUIEN SABE, ABSOLUTE), which was named after the line of motor yachts produced by Feadship in collaboration with Italian designer Carlo Riva from 1961 to 1965.

Motor yacht QUIEN SABE was the fifth hull in the popular series, which was highly coveted in the years following the series’ launch and considered a collectors’ item today; a total rebuild of the fourth hull, M/Y SERENA, grabbed headlines in 2010.

The Owners of M/Y CARAVELLE shipped her from the Mediterranean to the Feadship yard in Makkum for the changes, which will ensure that she remains seaworthy for at least another half a century. They made use of the refit facilities not only to restore her vintage appearance but to also skilfully integrate the latest technology on board, which included Zero-speed stabilisers.

The comprehensive work saw the stripping and rebuilding of the engine room and the installation of no fewer than four RotorSwing at-anchor stabilisers. The hull also received a repaint and the interior and systems were extensively upgraded.

CARAVELLE had previously been altered by her Owners to include a lazarette and swim platform, increasing her length by 1.5m/4.9ft. These changes were not adverse to the design, which kept its soft curves, warm teak decking with polished chrome accents and an alluring blue hull.
