After the effects the 2017 hurricanes have had on the Caribbean charter grounds, YachtAid Global has put together a number of tips for superyacht owners looking to participate in future relief efforts.

The hurricane season has already begun in the Pacific and the not-for-profit organisation is urging luxury yachts to take small steps to be prepared in the wake of hurricanes damaging the region.
Tim Forderer, YachtAid Global Executive Director explained:
“We work closely with AYSS agents on the ground in each region. Once yachts begin planning their time in the affected cruising ground, they can speak to their local agents as well as directly to us and we’ll help match them with the most-crucial supplies each area needs, as well as organize their delivery, government or on-the-ground liaison and other logistics.”

In collaboration with other international organisations, including the United Nations and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, YachtAid Global is able to distribute much needed supplies to remote communities. The organisation works with an elite team of professionals who enter disaster zones and protect first responders as well as carry out search and rescue operations.
A three-day first-responder course is available free of charge for yacht crews and covers logistics, yacht preparation, helicopter operations, seaplane operations, medical training, water safety and other important disaster skills.
The course educates crews on their safety in disaster zones as well as readiness for running operations from the superyacht.
