The US superyacht builder Christensen Yachts announced in June that it had signed orders to build two new 50m (164ft) Custom Series motor yachts in the Christensen yacht line. The yachts are code named superyachts “Deputy Dog” and “Perfect Pursuit”. Custom Series motor yachts are designed with an efficient and effective layout and each boat is advanced in its construction time and is usually available for delivery in a shorter period of time.

Also, last week Christensen Shipyards took delivery of a 46m (150ft) superyacht Ocean Alexander mould at the Washington shipyard. The yacht mould which was shipped from China where is was built is to be used to build three 37m (120ft) Ocean Alexander yachts.

Ocean Alexander and Christensen have announced a strategic alliance where Christensen will build the luxury yachts as marketed and branded by Ocean Alexander. Christensen has said that it would rehire 50 formerly laid-off workers to build the new Ocean Alexander yachts and also said that it will hire an additional 50 employees for the construction of the two Ocean Alexander motor yachts. The new projects should provide enough work for 250 workers until 2014.
