Royal Van Lent will also see widening the locks in the nearby city of Gouda from 12 to 14 meters. The bridges in the towns of Oude and Nieuwe Wetering will also be extended to the same width, with an expected completion date of 2012.
Emerald Coast Yachts, a charter operation and sailing school based in Gulf Breeze, Florida, noticed a drop-off in business right after the oil spill. “We were booked through the end of June and having the best year we’ve had,” said Peggy Van Sleen. “But then the oil spill came and the phones stopped ringing. We’ve received no new business since then.”

The superyacht dry dock is named ‘Diligence’ and can accommodate yachts of up to 122m (400ft) in length and 30m (100ft) in width. It will be berthed at Knight & Carver’s docks, located on the southeast shores of San Diego Bay. Knight & Carver YachtCenter claims to have the largest lifting capacity (4,000-tonnes) for superyachts and commercial vessels on the US west coast — and one of the largest in the country.
Princess Yachts have announced very positive results for the year ended 31 December 2009, despite continued uncertainty in global economic conditions.
Princess yachts have reported an increased turnover of £213.8 million, up 3% from the previous year, driven by the continued investment in new product development and the establishment of new markets.
Dorset-based Sunseeker Yachts has already invested more than GBP40 million into expanding its manufacturing facilities and product range to deliver yachts of up to 40 meters, and it has plans to extend to 50-meter yachts.
Camper and Nicholsons Marinas has taken a significant step into new markets with the award of a new contract from Luhuitou Tourism Development Co Ltd to design and commission the Sanya Serenity Marina. The marina will incorporate 350 berths, including superyacht berths up to 50m and will form part of a resort being designed by world renowned architects Chapman Taylor. It is due for completion in June 2011.
