The ShowBoats Superyacht Design Awards 2010 – The Finalists

After 200 nominations for the ShowBoats Design Awards 2010, including the year’s most notable examples of superyacht design and craftsmanship, the finalists are revealed. All qualifying superyachts were delivered during 2009 and have a length overall in excess of 30 metres.

Superyacht Riela is a Winner at The World Superyacht Awards 2010

Sailing yacht Riela, designed by Perini Navi’s in-house naval architects together with New Zealander Ron Holland, is the 46th unit in the Perini Navi fleet and the 7th in the 56 metre series. She boasts an ultra-light streamlined aluminium hull with maximum displacement optimized at 545 tons in order to guarantee both excellent sailing performances and extreme comfort. Both main and mizzen masts are also in aluminium, while the furling boom is in carbon fibre. Total sail area is expected to reach 1,500 m².

52m Sparkman & Stephens Sailing yacht Nazenin V recognized at 2010 World Superyacht Awards

Superyacht Nazenin V has an exterior styling, engineering, and naval architecture completed by Sparkman & Stephens, while Redman, Whitely, Dixon of the UK created the graceful blond teak interior. Project Manager Paul Johnson, also brought years of experience and invaluable expertise to the project. The culmination of five years of design development, engineering, and construction has led to a world-class superyacht that exceeds the owner’s strict requirements for comfort, safety, performance and tasteful simplicity in every way. Ferretti Yachts receives more awards in China

Ferretti Group brand Ferretti Yachts, active within the sphere of the production of flybridge motor yachts measuring 14 to 27 metres, is becoming increasingly better known in China. This has been confirmed by top level awards won in contests of international importance and significant visibility, such as the China International Boat Show 2010 in Shanghai and Gafencu magazine’s Best Of the Best Award in Beijing.

Princess Cruises honoured by Port of San Francisco for environmental efforts.

Three Princess Cruises ships — Sapphire Princess, Sea Princess and Star Princess have just been named as gold-level winners of the Port of San Francisco 2009 Cruise Ship Environmental Award. The awards honor the ships’ “outstanding record in safeguarding the environment and protecting the air and water quality of San Francisco Bay during their port calls.” This is the fifth year Princess ships have earned this prestigious distinction.

CEO of Mourjan Marinas IGY, Michael Horrigan, received the award, which was part of the World of Yachts Recognition Awards for Excellence 2010, in front of leaders from the Arab maritime industry during the 6th International Beirut Boat show held this weekend.

Yacht Arkley Wins Motor Yacht of the Year 2010 at World Superyacht Awards

Each of the six winners of the motor yacht categories was eligible for this award, and their relative merits were debated by the judges at length. Put to the vote, the winner was clear – Superyacht Arkley, the 60-metre Lürssen was judged to be the winner of the prize being of a proven design and offering the performance and facilities that the majority of the panel admire in a long-range cruising yacht.
