Bill Dixon ‘Yacht Designer of the Year’ at Asian Marine and Boating Awards 2011

After a very successful ‘awards’ year in 2010 Bill Dixon has got 2011 off to a flying start by being named ‘Yacht Designer of the Year’ at the Asian Marine and Boating Awards 2011. Dixon, who has worked with companies in Asia for nearly thirty years, has now won prestigious awards two years running from a continent which is rapidly developing its leisure boat industry.

Royal Caribbean Cruises receives award from Seatrade for leadership program

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. received recognition for its shipboard “Building On Talent” leadership development program during this year’s Seatrade Awards Ceremonial Dinner. The ceremony, which took place at the Guildhall in London on April 14, 2011, included over 350 of the maritime industry’s key players, and celebrated the outstanding contributions made over the last year for safe, efficient and environmentally friendly shipping. During the awards gala, the Royal Caribbean was presented the “Investment in People” award.

Hermann H. Schaedla of superyacht builder Abeking & Rasmussen dies

Sad news comes from the superyacht builder Abeking & Rasmussen that Hermann H. Schaedla has died suddenly aged 76 on the 18th April 2011. For more than 50 years, Hermann H. Schaedla steered the fortunes of Abeking & Rasmussen. Under his responsible and intelligent management, the small shipyard in Lemwerder evolved into one of the major, world famous names in the field of superyacht and naval shipbuilding.

The International Yacht Awards hosted by design et al

The International Yacht Awards held last Friday at The Savoy, London were hosted by design et al, a leading interior design magazine in the United Kingdom at The Savoy, London. The new award ceremony gave focus to some of the best superyacht designs on the water. Both new and established designers were recognised at the ceremony following a champagne reception dinner at the Savoy Hotel.

Motor Yacht MYSTIC wins design award at the Design Et Al International Yacht Awards 2011

The stunning and elegant superyacht Mystic wins an award in the ‘Power Yacht Over 40 Metres’ category at the Design At Al Yacht Awards 2011. Mystic yacht was constructed at CMB, designed by Diana Yachts and her interior is by the German designer Brigit Schnaase.

The P1 Marine Foundation has announced the launch of a national awards scheme for outstanding projects specifically designed to have a positive and sustainable impact on the marine environment. The Awards are open to undergraduate students from universities across the UK and will reward the most pioneering academics with funding allocations for the top placed entries.

SD122 Motor Yacht Feluca launched by San Lorenzo

The SD122 Motor Yacht Feluca has been launched by Italian superyacht builder San Lorenzo at their shipyard in Viareggio. The 38m Yacht Feluca is from the SD122 line and is the fourth SD122 yacht to be launched by San Lorenzo. Superyacht Feluca is a semi-displacement yacht featuring naval architecture by San Lorenzo’s inhouse design team and exterior styling by Francesco Paszkowski.

Judges announced for the 2011 Club Marine Australian Marine Industry Export Awards.

The Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) has announced the judging panel for the 2011 Club Marine Australian Marine Industry Export Awards. It is important to maintain some consistency in regard to the judging of these awards stated AIMEX CEO MaryAnne Edwards. The judges will this year be Barry Jenkins, Iain Murray, John Savage, Ken Evans and Peter Ironmonger.
