The longest race of the Audi Hamilton Island Race series, the Club Marine Classic Long Race, took place yesterday. The best performing yachts were the two Orma 60 trimaran yachts Team Australia and Team Vodafone Sailing.
During an official ceremony held last evening in the ACWS San Francisco Race Village at Marina Green, the 11 skippers leading crews at ACWS San Francisco were introduced.

Day 4 of the 2012 Audi Hamilton Island Race Week saw the 163 yachts competing in the Club Marine Long Race and the Lindeman Island Race. They started early in the morning to be ashore in time for today’s Olympic parade.
The highly anticipated America’s Cup World Series in San Francisco starts tomorrow. There will be 11 competing yachts and 55 sailors coming from 12 countries.
It has been a great success for this year’s Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week, providing great sailing conditions. The overall winner of this popular race has become the J/109 sailing yacht Harlequin. The 2013 dates have been already announced for August 3 to 10.
One of the most iconic sailing events, the 2012 Rolex Swan Cup regatta is to start in less then a month, from 10-16 September in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, Italy. Around 100 Swan yachts are believed to participate this year, with almost 70 Swans already having confirmed their participation.
Wednesday 22 August will see the official start of the ACWS San Francisco, however its Race Village at Marina Green opens tomorrow, able to host 1,200 people.
Following a great success reached at the Giraglia Rolex Cup, the 100ft superyacht Esimit Europa 2 is now participating in this year’s 8th edition of the Palermo – Monte Carlo yacht regatta, which started on Saturday 18th August.
This year’s Shipyard Cup X was won by the 115′ luxury charter yacht Scheherazade, constructed by Hodgdon Yachts in 2000, with last refit in 2011. She was followed by charter yachts Rapture and Whisper, respectively. The 2013 edition of this popular event will take place from August 9 to 13.
Class A sailing yacht Yendys took the leading position of the Audi IRC Australian Championship on Day 3 of the Audi Hamilton Island Race Week.
