Newport Bermuda Race: Sailing yacht Speedboat finishes first

Alex Jackson’s maxi 100-footer sloop Speedboat finished the Newport Bermuda Race early Monday morning at 3:49 AM EDT. Finishing second at 6:25 was Il Mostro (Puma), a 70-foot Volvo Ocean Race boat sailed by Kenny Read, whose brother, Brad, was in Speedboat’s afterguard. Boat boats sailed in the Open Division for racing yachts with canting keels.

Newport Bermuda Race: Speedboat leads Fleet

As expected because of her 100-feet length overall, Speedboat continues to lead the 183-boat fleet in the Newport Bermuda Race. At 14:35 EDT she was 125 nautical miles from Bermuda sailing at 13 knots.

It was a day of sharply contrasting fortunes for past and present Audi MedCup Champions on the Rade Sud today as the Marseille Trophy opened with three races which proved a very different test to last month’s breezy curtain raiser in Cascais, Portugal. Iberdrola won the GP42 Series Practice Race.

Giralglia Rolex Cup 2nd Day: Line honours for Esimit Europa 2

With 19 knots of wind, the conditions were ideal for Esimit Europa 2 (EUR) on the team’s second day of racing during the inshore portion of the Giralglia Rolex Cup. The bright blue, 100 foot maxi flying the European flag is the largest yacht competing and towers over the fleet of 221 boats. The competition is strong as some of the best known professional sailing teams such as Jethou (GBR), Shockwave (NZL) and Container (GER) prepare for the Giraglia Rolex Cup which starts on Wednesday.

The French sailor, Jean-Pierre Dick, has imagined a top-of-the-range fast cruising yacht whose design is unique. Designed by Guillaume Verdier and the interior designed by Stéphanie Marin, the first JP54 has just been launched in Auckland, New Zealand. Produced in a limited series by Absolute Dreamer, the JP54 takes its inspiration from the performances of racing boats to discover new horizons. The JP54 will be in France this summer.

Louis Vuitton Trophy: Semi finalists decided

Five races confirmed four powerful semi-finalists today for the Louis Vuitton Trophy La Maddalena. They are the French/German boat All4One, Sweden”s Artemis, Emirates Team New Zealand and SYNERGY Russian Sailing Team.

Louis Vuitton Trophy: Day 12 – 4 boats separated by 1 point.

The French/German team All4One moved up to second equal place at the Louis Vuitton Trophy La Maddalena today and will race Sweden’s top-placed Artemis tomorrow to decide the winner of the round robin.

The other match between Emirates Team New Zealand and Italy’s Mascalzone Latino, both currently second equal, will be key to resolving the other top places. Tonight, all four boats are at the top of the points table with only one point separating them.
