America’s Cup television trials in Valencia highly successful

Over the past 4 days two high-performance monohulls and multihulls have been loaded with a several cameras and microphones and put through match racing manoeuvres to help find new camera angles and test surround sound format for the 34th Americas Cup.

Artemis won the Camper Regatta – Conde de Godó Trophy – Barcelona TP52 Series in considerable style, after a fantastic finale, coming from eighth at the first windward mark to finish second behind Bribón (ESP) on the finish line of the last race, to clinch the Swedish flagged team’s first MedCup Circuit regatta win since 2007.

NYYC Race Week at Newport Presented by Rolex: Vela Veloce overall winner

New York Yacht Club’s seventh biennial Race Week at Newport presented by Rolex finished on the 24th of July after 4 days of racing. The Southern Cross 52 Vela Veloce was determined the best performing boat and was named the 2010 Rolex US-IRC National Champion.

British Classic Yacht Club Panerai Cowes Regatta 2010 – DAY FOUR

At the British Classic Yacht Club Panerai Cowes Regatta on day four, the top slots in almost all the classes were too close to call and any crews with aspirations of a class win were painfully aware that their two results today could make or break their regatta.

The 2011 Mount Gay Rum Round Barbados Sailing Race Regatta

The race around Barbados dates back to the 19th century and is based upon bragging rights for the fastest “Trading Schooner”. This was a prize worth its weight in gold to captains in an era where prices for cargo arriving ahead of rival ships commanded a massive premium. Whilst most boats sailed for the honor of the fastest time, the consolation prize of a barrel of Mount Gay Rum for the slowest certainly spurred on some captains, and had to be discontinued after two boats remained out at sea for days stalling to take the prize.

The opening race of the 2010 Meridien Marinas Airlie Beach Race Week will commence on Friday August 13 and will mark the 21st anniversary of the Australian event.

Audi MedCup fleet at the Camper Regatta Barcelona warming up for the Conde de Godó Trophy.

The Camper Regatta – Conde de Godó Trophy, is the third stage of the Audi MedCup circuit 2010 and will take place from July 20 to 25 2010 in Barcelona. The TP52 Series will start racing on Wednesday and the GP42 Series will start Thursday. The atmosphere in Barcelona around the Audi MedCup Circuit village is a mix of great excitement and building anticipation.

TEAMORIGIN to take on Americas Cup champions BMW ORACLE Racing at Cowes Week

TEAMORIGIN’s Ben Ainslie, and BMW ORACLE Racing’s James Spithill, will lead their teams contesting the 1851 Cup. Competition will take place on the historic waters of the Solent and around the Isle of Wight upon which a race won by the New York yacht America gave rise to the America’s Cup, the oldest trophy in the international sport. The 1851 Cup celebrates this event.

New High-Performance Yachts for 34th America’s Cup

Rating rule authorities in America and Britain have been commissioned to draft the rules for the next generation of America’s Cup yacht. In asking US SAILING and the Royal Ocean Racing Club’s Seahorse Rating affiliate to write the rules, BMW ORACLE Racing and Golden Gate Yacht Club, winner of the 33rd America’s Cup last February, has ensured the process is neutral and independent.

Maxi Sailing yacht ICAP Leopard favourite for Cowes-Dinard-St Malo Race.

Mike Slade’s Farr 100 Maxi, ICAP Leopard, will be hot favourite for line honours for this weekend’s race to St. Malo and make no mistake; the world record breaking yacht will be attempting to break their own course record, set in 2008.

34th America’s Cup draft Protocol presented to team

In a joint initiative by the defender, San Francisco’s Golden Gate Yacht Club and the Challenger of Record, Italy’s Club Nautico di Roma, a draft of the Protocol rules for the 34th America’s Cup was sent to the challenging teams today.
