Day 10 of Race 11 in the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race saw Singapore winning Ocean Sprint, obtaining one crucial point
The overall victory in the 2012 Rolex Volcano Race has gone to the 60ft yacht Jethou, followed by the 112ft luxury yacht Nilaya taking second place and the Wally 100 superyacht Y3K placing third.
68 yachts have already confirmed their participation in the 29th edition of the Audi Hamilton Island Race Week, with the line up of NZ yachts, ready to defend the South Pacific Trophy won two years ago.
Luxurious vessels such as the 53.8m charter yacht Parsifal III or the 57.5m superyacht Twizzle and many others will meet once again to compete in this year’s Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, running from June 4 to 6 and hosted by the prestigious Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, situated in a fabulous yacht charter location – Porto Cervo in Sardinia.
The first vessel to finish the 300-nautical mile course of the 2012 Rolex Volcano Race was the Filip Balcaen’s 112ft superyacht Nilaya, followed by the Claus-Peter Offen’s 100ft sailing yacht Wally Y3K taking second place and the Sir Peter Ogden’s 60ft Mini Maxi yacht Jethou placing third.
The base of every successful race is good teamwork, as confirmed by Bouwe Bekking, a captain of the largest vessel attending this year’s Rolex Volcano Race, the 112ft superyacht Nilaya.
The Race 11 Ocean Sprint of the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race has officially begun, with Visit Finland as the first team to start.
This year’s Newport Bucket Regatta, taking place from August 24-26 will boast four luxurious vessels, designed by respected UK-based studio Dubois Naval Architects. These include the 44.7m luxury yacht Lady B, the 42.9m superyacht Drumbeg, the 49.7m luxury yacht Zefira as well as the 44.8m Timoneer superyacht.
The team currently leading in the leaderboard for the 2011-12 season championship is the ORACLE TEAM USA led by Jimmy Spithill, with 4 point advantage over Emirates Team New Zealand, taking second place.
The Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week, running from August 11 to 18, is supposed to be attended by Skandia Team GBR’s sailors on August 17, following their racing at the London 2012 Olympics.
