Taking place in the breathtaking setting of the La Maddalena Archipelago in Sardinia, Italy, the Southern Wind Shipyard Trophy is a challenging coastal regatta, due to start on the 4th of June and run for five days.
June 5 will see spectacular Karpaz Gate Marina in Cyprus welcome 80 yachts competing in the 2012 Eastern Mediterranean Yacht Rally (EMYR). This beautiful superyacht marina now boasts new resort facilities.
The winners of the J Class Solent Regatta, running from July 18 to 20, will be given an honour to receive the Corinthian King’s Cup trophy as well as the King’s Hundred Guinea Cup trophy, in addition to the Queen’s Cup trophy by Royal Southampton Yacht Club.
Day 3 of the 2012 Samui Regatta saw the sailing yacht Foxy Lady 6 take the leading position, winning just by a single point and with only two days of racing left.
The 2nd edition of the Rolex Volcano Race was concluded with the Rolex party and prizegiving at La Canzone del Mare on Friday 25 May, with Sir Peter Ogden’s 60ft Mini Maxi yacht Jethou winning the Rolex Trophy and timepiece as well as the 112ft superyacht Nilaya receiving a Rolex timepiece as a line-honours winner.
This year’s Frisian Solar Challenge will be attended by Vripack Solar Team, competing on the new 6m solar boat, sponsored by Whisper Power and built by Epomat. The race will take place from July 8 to 14, 2012.
Day 2 of the 2012 Samui Regatta saw perfect weather conditions for competing. The Dubois designed 90ft sailing yacht Genuine Risk took line honours in the IRC Zero category.
Preparations for the Newport AC World Series are well underway, with ORACLE TEAM USA currently taking the leading position. This famous US team has also taken part in celebrations of the 75th birthday of the legendary Golden Gate Bridge.
At this year’s Rolex Volcano Race, the Swan 80 luxury sailing yacht Berenice Bis won the ‘highest placed Swan’ award, received during the Rolex party at the legendary La Canzone del Mare.
All ten 68ft yachts taking part in the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race have successfully managed to complete Race 11 from Panama to New York. The overall victory went to Gold Coast Australia, with Visit Finland taking the second place and De Lage Landen placing third.
Stable winds as well as close racing marked Day 1 of the Samui Regatta, with Marcus Blackmore’s sailing yacht Hooligan winning over the 90ft Dubois superyacht Genuine Risk.
