According to NZ Marine executive director, Peter Busfield, the launch of the first AC72 sailing yacht New Zealand helps strengthen the export of New Zealand manufactured boats and equipment. This splendid catamaran was launched in Auckland on July 21.

Marked by a special visit of HM The Queen aboard the 75m luxury charter yacht Leander, the newest WallyCento sailing yacht Hamilton has become the overall winner of the 2012 Superyacht Cup Cowes, followed by superyacht Adela and luxury yacht Athos, respectively.
The legendary Kings Hundred Guinea Cup went to the Claasen Jachtbouw built and Andre Hoek designed superyacht Lionheart, participating in this year’s J Class Regatta in the Solent. This splendid vessel competed along with other beautiful J Class yachts, including Velsheda superyacht, charter yacht Ranger as well as luxury yacht Rainbow.
This weekend will see the first testing of a new underwater configuration installed aboard the 30m superyacht Wild Oats XI. She will compete in the upcoming Audi Hamilton Island Race Week, kicking off on August 17, hosting almost 150 yachts.
Attended by 70 spectacular yachts last year, the 2012 Rolex Middle Sea Race will once again kick off on October 20, providing one week of exciting competing. Among the entries that have already confirmed their participation in this popular event belong the last year’s winner – 100ft maxi superyacht Esimit Europa 2 – as well as the 78ft Reichel/Pugh designed sailing yacht Idea and many others.
July 23 saw the first day of the inaugural Superyacht Cup Cowes, marked by challenging weather conditions. The overall winner on Day 1 has become the 34m luxury sailing yacht Unfurled, built by Royal Huisman.
Saturday 21 July saw the 2012 J Class Solent Regatta – Hundered Guinea Cup, attended by the spectacular J Class yachts. The overall winner has become sailing yacht Lionheart, followed by superyacht Velsheda, charter yacht Ranger and Rainbow superyacht, respectively.
The overall winner of this year’s J Class Regatta in the Solent has become the luxury sailing yacht Velsheda, followed by charter yacht Ranger, superyacht Lionheart and luxury yacht Rainbow, respectively.
Day 2 of the J Class Solent Regatta saw a very close racing of the J Class yachts. In the end, the overall winner has become superyacht Velsheda, winning by just 5 seconds, followed by Lionheart, Rainbow and Ranger, respectively.
It was a great success for the 27m sailing yacht Bequia, designed by Stephens Waring Yacht Design as their first superyacht, at the 2012 Pendennis Cup. A traditionally constructed yawl, this spendid vessel is now expected to cruise in Sweden and Mallorca, before starting a summer season of racing next year.
