The Superyacht Intelligence Agency has demonstrated in its report, carried out earlier this year, that superyachts have a positive and important economic impact on the countries they visit. An example of this statement are luxury sailing yachts that will compete in the 2013 NZ Millennium Cup. They will bring significant economic benefits to New Zealand.
November 13 saw the presentation of the format for the Rolex Capri Sailing Week/Volcano Race 2013. It will take place from May 18 to 24, with participation of such beautiful vessels as superyacht Nilaya.
Dates were set for the next year’s first America’s Cup World Series event in Naples, Italy for April 16 to 21. Once again, the city will host up to 11 top sailing teams.
J.P. Morgan Asset Management has confirmed that they will continue its sponsorship of the Round the Island Race for a further two years, through to 2014. The 2013 edition of this popular race will kick off on June 1.
The overall winner of the 2012 Swan Mediterranean Challenge has become the Swan 80 superyacht Plis Play. She has also competed in this year’s Rolex Swan Cup, where she took 6th place.
The organisers of the next year’s BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival have officially opened the race and online entry. The 42nd edition of this popular race will take place from Monday March 25th to Easter Sunday, 31st March 2013, with participation of up to 120 international yachts.
October 28 saw the official launch of the beautiful 50-metre Fitzroy superyacht Ohana (Project G50). Designed by renowned Dubois Naval Architects, she provides up to 12 guests with 6 comfortable cabins.
Scheduled for September 1-4, 2013, the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup will open with a Selection Series Trials in San Francisco in February. At the moment, more than 20 teams from 17 countries are eligible for the Series.
Due to the lack of wind, a bit frustrating Rolex Middle Sea Race 2012 in Malta was attended by a record-breaking 83 international teams. The overall winner of the 33rd edition has become the South African yacht Hi Fidelity.
October 27 in Malta’s capital city Valletta saw the official prize giving ceremony of this year’s Rolex Middle Sea Race. The Medot Sailing Trophy was presented.

This year’s Rolex Middle Sea Race has been completed by the last year’s overall winner, Artie yacht, this morning. The total number of 9 boats are still competing. Tomorrow will see the official prizegiving.
