New York Yacht Club’s seventh biennial Race Week at Newport presented by Rolex finished on the 24th of July after 4 days of racing. The Southern Cross 52 Vela Veloce was determined the best performing boat and was named the 2010 Rolex US-IRC National Champion.
At the British Classic Yacht Club Panerai Cowes Regatta on day four, the top slots in almost all the classes were too close to call and any crews with aspirations of a class win were painfully aware that their two results today could make or break their regatta.
The Rolex presented NYYC Race Week in Newport, England begun with fog, humidity and light wind. As the morning progressed at 11 am the wind reported by the NYYC Race Committee was at 6-8 knots, which stayed at the same level for the rest of the day.

Competition will take place on the historic waters of the Solent and around the Isle of Wight upon which a race won by the New York yacht America gave rise to the America’s Cup, the oldest trophy in the international sport. The 1851 Cup celebrates this event.
