Racing Day 3 of the Newport America’s Cup World Series was marked by the victory of Emirates Team New Zealand in race four, but ORACLE TEAM USA Spithill still continues to impress, taking the leading position in the overall championship leaderboard.
With the official prizegiving taking place at the Island Sailing Club on Sunday 1 July, the 81st J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race has unveiled its winners. The prominent Gold Roman Bowl for first boat overall on IRC handicap went to Tony Langley’s TP52 sailing yacht Manroland Sheetfed. Charter yacht ICAP Leopard completed the race in 03hrs, 59mins and 04secs.
The overall winner of the 2012 J Class Regatta in Falmouth has become the luxury charter yacht Ranger, followed by superyachts Velsheda and Lionheart, respectively. The J Class beauties are now getting ready to compete in the upcoming J Class Solent Regatta, starting on July 18.
With the presence of over 1,600 participating yachts, the 81st edition of the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race kicked off today. The race is attended by such spectacular vessels as the 100ft charter yacht ICAP Leopard or the 162ft superyacht Eleonora E (ex Eleonora).
After Racing Day 2 of the Newport America’s Cup World Series, held on Friday 29 June, the ORACLE TEAM USA Spithill keeps its leading position with 84 points, followed by Emirated Team New Zealand, gaining 80 points.
Situated in the Northern Cyprus, the fabulous Karpaz Gate Marina, providing 300 berths comprising 15 berths for super yachts as well as mega yachts up to a maximum of 60 metres in length, played host to the 82 participants, taking part in the Eastern Mediterranean Yacht Rally (EMYR).

Following the six-month refit at the Oyster Group’s Southampton Yacht Service, the 100ft supermaxi charter yacht Leopard 3 now boasts a new, beautiful interior. This splendid vessel is now preparing to race in the upcoming J P Morgan Round the Island Race, starting on Saturday 30 June.
