Panamax will be a fast performance sailing yacht with the classic appearance and styling of a Bristol Pilot Cutter. This 66.90-meter ketch is expected to launch in 2010 at Baltic Yachts in Finland. Dykstra & Partners (and co designer Reichel/Pugh), are responsible for the Naval Architecture and exterior styling working in close collaboration with the owner and the owner’s project manager Jens Cornelsen. Intensive towing tank and wind tunnel tests have been carried out to increase performance with the largest composite standing rigging to date. Interior designers appointed on this project are Rhoades Young Design.
The exterior design of this 65-metre luxur motor yacht is by Dutch designer Frank Laupman of Omega Architects. Other leading international yacht designers have also been asked to create alternative proposals for the exterior styling.
Yacht TALA is a GRP/composite 44 metre semi displacement planning luxury yacht. She has twin fixed propeller drives coupled to MTU 4000 16V M90 diesels. Her speed parameters are around 27 knots top and a respectable 24 knots cruising speed.
After successful completion of the superyacht hull of the first RFF135, the technical installation and interior fitting out begins now. By the end of 2010 the worldwide superyacht fleet is going to have changed quite markedly. The number, size and design advancements of luxury yachts to be launched (and already launched) this year has changed. This bulge in production began last year in 2009 and will continue into 2011. Some experts have suggested that we will never again see such a proliferation of new yachts being launched. It is certainly exciting times for the superyacht industry. Superyacht supply is for once keeping up with – and in many cases outstripping – superyacht owner demand.
A new development for this year is the appointment of a professional Race Officer, Premiere Racings founder, Peter Craig from Marblehead, USA. Peter has a huge wealth of experience with top-level international regattas, including the Bucket Regattas and the Perini Navi Cup, the Maxi Rolex World Cup, the Swan World Championships and the Volvo Ocean Race.

The designers at Mercedes-Benz have announced that the famous auto company will begin designing helicopters and luxury yachts. This follows other car companies such as BMW and Porsche which also design motor yachts.
The Italian luxury yacht builder CRN Yachts, which is part of the Ferretti Group, launched the 43m superyacht Kate on 21st April 2010 at a private ceremony. The 43m megayacht KATE is testimony to the continual productive activity of the Ferretti Group’s shipyard.
