Moonen Shipyards in the Netherlands has successfully completed the refit of the Moonen 52 Trojan motor yacht, originally launched in 1988. Having already enjoyed both the experiences and results of an earlier refit at the yard, the owner of the Moonen 52 Trojan, decided to return to Moonen for a wide range of work.
The Brigantino S. Giorgio an historic Benetti Sailing Ship measures 51 metres and was built entirely in wood in 1921 at the Benetti shipyard in Viareggio. At the time, she was the largest brigantine on the Mediterranean. It is one of the largest sailing ships preserved inside of a museum.

The British Marine Equipment Association (BMEA) is organising a Trade Mission to Vietnamese new build, conversion and yacht repair yards within striking distance of Ho Chi Minh City. BMEA then plan to attend the International Trade Fair in Ho Chi Minh City from Wednesday 9th – Friday 11th March.

Phil Rose a well known engineer who manages shore side refitting operations in the Superyacht industry has joined Sud Marine Shipyard as Operation and Production Manager. Phil will play a leading role in the development of the shipyard, a subsidiary of Sud Moteurs , located in the Bassins de Radoub in Marseille.

Tom Clegg from Pendennis has been awarded winner of the Queens Silver Medal by the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights as the Shipyard Apprentice of the Year 2010. This is one of the country’s most prestigious apprentice awards and has been presented to representatives from the ship building industry since 1945.
Mulder Shipyard in the Netherlands has announced that construction will soon start on a new yard. This second yard will cover an area of 7000 square metres and focus on the maintenance, refit and new build of yachts between 18 and 40 metres. It should be ready to start operations in 2012, with the first new yacht launching in 2013.
The Drettmann-Sunrise Group, a new group of yachting companies emerges at the initiative of Herbert P. Baum, the German businessman and yachtsman who co-founded Sunrise Yachts. The group will focus on the rebirth of the Drettmann brand.
