This week saw the world’s fastest motor yacht The World Is Not Enough sign up the first order for the new Lantic software 2011 Suite, launched at the start of April. Superyacht The World Is Not Enough is a 42 metre Frank Mulder design yacht that has a top speed of 68 knots. The motor yacht is about to start an intermediate refit in Italy that will see her back in operation in time for the summer
Two of the most distinct members of the Lurssen superyacht fleet, the 63m Motor yacht Polar Star and the 78m megayacht TV (ex Mad Summer) have recently completed yacht refinishing projects at Rybovich Shipyard in West Palm Beach, Fl. Both projects were executed simultaneously by the Rybovich Refinishing Team in custom climate controlled enclosures erected in the water.
RS Global (part of the Rolling Stock Group), with additional backing from investors including Palma Refit, are currently collaborating on the significant renovation project of the site formerly known as the “Grupo Guidet Building,” located within the STP shipyard. RS Global have been awarded the 12 year concession to manage the building, which will offer approximately 3,000 square meters of rentable workshop and office space on two floors, including a bar/restaurant.
Pure Superyacht Refit, based in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, has appointed a new Project Manager Ivan Salas Jefferson who will work with the existing team to provide a specialist refit management service for superyachts at locations across Europe.
Royal Huisman has launched ‘Huisfit’ dedicated to Superyacht refit, repair and renewal. The Dutch yard Royal Huisman who is principally known as a builder of fine custom superyachts has undertaken refit work for many years, however after an in-depth study they are broadening their business model with ‘Huisfit’ a carefully planned expansion of its superyacht refit and repair business. The important strategic move will utilize a more efficient deployment of its human and physical resources over a wider range and a greater number of projects.
The International Yacht Awards held last Friday at The Savoy, London were hosted by design et al, a leading interior design magazine in the United Kingdom at The Savoy, London. The new award ceremony gave focus to some of the best superyacht designs on the water. Both new and established designers were recognised at the ceremony following a champagne reception dinner at the Savoy Hotel.
The first YARE Aftersales & Refit Exhibition that was held from 31st of March to 2nd of April in what is considered the heart of the superyacht production area Viareggio, received more than 3,000 visitors in three days; over 100 exhibitors in seven long tents along via Coppino with a total surface of 4,000 covered sq meters.
Project 229, motor yacht Achilles and super yacht Linda Lou have had their refits completed during the month of April at Pure Superyacht Refit in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Headed by Nic Clarke, a former professional skipper and project manager, Pure Superyacht Refit has had a surge of new business as a result of its growing reputation within the superyacht industry.
The 5th Antibes Yacht Show took place in the largest harbour in Europe, Antibes from April 7th – 10th, 2011. The event marks the start of the charter season in the Mediterranean and if the show is a barometer for the rest of the season as many say, then we can be looking forward to a great season in the yachting industry.
