Change of course announced for the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race

The RORC have decided to reverse the course of the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race due to a severe weather forecast for the west coast of Ireland predicted for Thursday 26th August. The fleet will now race anti-clockwise around Britain and Ireland. The start remains unchanged from the Royal Yacht Squadron line to the east at 14.00. This should give the fleet a fast running start towards the forts in the Solent.

Sailing yacht Esimit Europa 2 breaks Palermo-Monte Carlo record

The 100 foot maxi sailing yacht Esimit Europa 2 was the first to cross the finish line in Monte Carlo, taking line honours in the Palermo-Monte Carlo Race. The crew onboard Esimit Europa 2 completed the 500 nautical mile course in 2 days 52 minutes, breaking the course record by 3 hours 19 minutes.

2010 TP52 World Championship hosted by Valencia in October

From 5 to 9 October Valencia will host the 2010 TP52 World Championship. The regatta fleet will be based from the Marina Real Juan Carlos I and will compete in up to 10 races, including a Coastal Race. The organisers expect around 10 teams to fight for the world champion’s title.

Audi MedCup Circuit returns to Cartagena

Audi MedCup Circuit 2010 – The penultimate regatta, the the Caja Mediterráneo Region of Murcia Trophy begins in Cartagena next week and has drawn a full complement of 11 TP52 teams and five GP42’s. The public village opens on Saturday the 21st of August.

Audi MedCup Circuit: Closer on the water, more popular ashore

Three different boats have won the season’s three different regatta trophies at Audi MedCup Circuit for both the TP52 and the GP42 Series. Three of the five regattas which comprise the 2010 Audi MedCup Circuit have now been contested, with the races proving to be closer on the water and more popular ashore.

Louis Vuitton Trophy Hong Kong regatta Cancelled.

The World Sailing Teams Association, together with Louis Vuitton and the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, has announced that preparations for the proposed Louis Vuitton Trophy Hong Kong in January 2011 have ceased. The Dubai event, held in November 2010, will be the “last regatta.”

Club Marine Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Race: Supermaxi Lahana takes win and record

Maxi sailing yacht Lahana, captained by Peter Millard sailed over the finish line of the Club Marine Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Race just 22 seconds ahead of the Mark Richards skippered Wild Oats X to claim Line Honours victory.

BMW ORACLE wins The Trafalgar Cup around Isle of Wight

BMW ORACLE Racing defeated TEAMORIGIN around the Isle of Wight by 1 minute and 55 seconds to win the Trafalgar Cup. The race was part of The 1851 Cup, a match racing regatta between the two teams. Although today’s race doesn’t count in the standings, it will serve as a tiebreaker in the event the teams finish tied on points. Racing for The 1851 Cup resumes tomorrow with three races planned on the Solent. Each race is worth 3 points per victory. TEAMORIGIN leads the series 4-1.

TEAMORIGIN are currently 4-1 ahead of BMW ORACLE however with races on the final day counting for triple points, the 1851 Cup at Cowes remains wide open.

Supermaxi Wild Oats XI wins the Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race

The supermaxi sailing yacht Wild Oats XI has taken line honours in the Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race. It was Wild Oats XI’s first attempt at the 384 nautical mile race coastal race and is also the 25th anniversary of the event.

The Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race starts at 1pm on Saturday 31 July with Weather forecast predicting record breaking race for Bob Oatley’s 100ft super maxi Wild Oats XI, who is the clear line honours favourite. The 11 year old race record of 27hrs, 35 mins and 43 seconds is currently held by sailing yacht Brindabella, set in 1999.
