With no competing on the final day Saturday 16 June, this year’s Westward Cup, attended by three big class vessels, including charter yacht Eleonora E (ex Eleonora), Mariette superyacht and luxury yacht Mariquita, was concluded today.
This morning saw the 100ft superyacht Esimit Europa 2 reach the overall victory in the 60th edition of the Giraglia Rolex Cup from St Tropez, France to Sanremo, Italy, completing the race in a time of 14 hours, 56 minutes and 16 seconds, breaking the course record.
14 hours, 56 minutes and 16 seconds is the new record reached by the 100ft sailing yacht Esimit Europa 2 in the 60th edition of the Giraglia Rolex Cup from St Tropez, France to Sanremo, Italy.
Today 13 June saw the departure of 170 yachts racing in this year’s Giraglia Rolex Cup from St Tropez, France heading to Sanremo, Italy. The absolure favourite of the race is the 100ft superyacht Esimit Europa 2, closely followed by the 62ft sailing yacht Jethou.
Based on a long-term partnership, the Esimit Europa project will team up with the BMW Group Central Eastern Europe, becoming an official partner of the Esimit Europa project, which symbol is the 100ft luxury yacht Esimit Europa 2, currently competing in the 60th Giraglia Rolex Cup.
Day 1 of this year’s Westward Cup in Cowes, UK saw the 42m superyacht Mariette take the top position, followed by the 38m luxury yacht Mariquita and the 41.5m charter yacht Eleonora E (ex Eleonora) respectively.

A second day of inshore racing in the Giraglia Rolex Cup 2012 started today, with the participation of the largest and fastest boat on display, the 100ft superyacht Esimit Europa 2 as well as the Rolex Vulcano Race winner, the 62ft sailing yacht Jethou.
The overall winners of the 2012 Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta have become the 39m luxury charter yacht Ganesha in the Cruising Division and the 25.3m sailing yacht Highland Fling in the Performance Division.
Due to kick off tomorrow, the preparations for the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta 2012 hosted by prestigious Yacht Club Costa Smeralda are well underway. The biggest vessel to compete in this popular race will be the 57.5m luxury sailing yacht Twizzle.
The 2nd edition of the Rolex Volcano Race was concluded with the Rolex party and prizegiving at La Canzone del Mare on Friday 25 May, with Sir Peter Ogden’s 60ft Mini Maxi yacht Jethou winning the Rolex Trophy and timepiece as well as the 112ft superyacht Nilaya receiving a Rolex timepiece as a line-honours winner.
The overall victory in the 2012 Rolex Volcano Race has gone to the 60ft yacht Jethou, followed by the 112ft luxury yacht Nilaya taking second place and the Wally 100 superyacht Y3K placing third.
