One of the most iconic sailing events, the 2012 Rolex Swan Cup regatta is to start in less then a month, from 10-16 September in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, Italy. Around 100 Swan yachts are believed to participate this year, with almost 70 Swans already having confirmed their participation.
Following a great success reached at the Giraglia Rolex Cup, the 100ft superyacht Esimit Europa 2 is now participating in this year’s 8th edition of the Palermo – Monte Carlo yacht regatta, which started on Saturday 18th August.
This year’s Shipyard Cup X was won by the 115′ luxury charter yacht Scheherazade, constructed by Hodgdon Yachts in 2000, with last refit in 2011. She was followed by charter yachts Rapture and Whisper, respectively. The 2013 edition of this popular event will take place from August 9 to 13.
Running from September 2 to 8, the 2012 Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup is to kick off in less than one month. This year’s 23rd edition will be marked by the competitive premiere of the 164ft sailing yacht Better Place as well as the 216ft superyacht Hetairos.
Starting on August 18th, the 100ft superyacht Esimit Europa 2 will participate at the 8th edition of the Palermo – Monte Carlo regatta, with the main aim to break the 2010 record.
MDL’s Ocean Village Marina was delighted to host three J Class yachts during the J Class Solent Regatta, including luxury yacht Velsheda, superyacht Lionheart as well as charter yacht Ranger. The marina also played host to Athos superyacht and sailing yacht Adela, participating in the Superyacht Cup.

Recently refitted charter yacht ICAP Leopard has just finished racing in the Superyacht Cup in Cowes and is already preparing to compete at Weymouth for the London 2012 Olympics. This splendid vessel will then return to the Solent to participate in this year’s Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week.
Marked by a special visit of HM The Queen aboard the 75m luxury charter yacht Leander, the newest WallyCento sailing yacht Hamilton has become the overall winner of the 2012 Superyacht Cup Cowes, followed by superyacht Adela and luxury yacht Athos, respectively.
The legendary Kings Hundred Guinea Cup went to the Claasen Jachtbouw built and Andre Hoek designed superyacht Lionheart, participating in this year’s J Class Regatta in the Solent. This splendid vessel competed along with other beautiful J Class yachts, including Velsheda superyacht, charter yacht Ranger as well as luxury yacht Rainbow.
