Emirates Team New Zealand wins Louis Vuitton Trophy La Maddalena Regatta

Two races down and on match point, Emirates Team New Zealand won the Louis Vuitton Trophy La Maddalena Regatta today in an action-packed afternoon of match race sailing. It was the first time in America’s Cup history that a Russian-flagged boat has reached the final of a Louis Vuitton-sponsored event and her mixed Russian and international crew led by Polish skipper Karol Jablonski came very close to clinching the series.

ICAP Leopard, the 100ft super-maxi racing yacht owned by Helical Bar PLC chief executive Mike Slade, has ended her transatlantic record attempt. After a fantastic start, the ICAP Leopard racing yacht found herself in a windless high pressure at 02:00 UTC on Saturday 420 nm from the finish. With the record looking less and less achievable, Skipper and Boat Captain Chris Sherlock took the decision to abandon the attempt.

20 Yachts Already Confirmed For The Superyacht Cup Palma 2010

The Superyacht Cup Palma 2010 is shaping up to be the best yet, with 20 yachts already confirmed for the three days racing and a full social programme of activities for every evening. The World Famous Red Sox, who played to the jubilant crowd at The Superyacht Cup in 2007 and again in 2009, will be looking for support from the budding musicians in the fleet.

Claasen Jachtbouw J-Class yacht Lionheart nearing her completion

Construction is nearing on the Hoek Designed 43.40m (142ft) sailing yacht Lionheart, the first of a new breed of aluminium J-Class yachts. Originally designed for the Ranger syndicate by Starling Burgess and Olin Stephens, Sailing Yacht Lionheart will be the largest J afloat when launched in July 2010. Lionheart is all aluminium, which is unusual for other Js, and her 17-metre (56 foot) overhang is making her a very special sailing yacht.

88ft Frers Sailing Yacht TULIP to be built by K&M Yachtbuilders

K&M Yachtbuilders are proud to announce that they are the chosen yacht builder for an 88 ft (26m) classic sloop TULIP. The Sailing Yacht is designed by the Argentinean Naval Architect German Frers Jr. Sailing Yacht Tulip will offer accommodation for six guests and two crew members. Her lifting keel provides for a large sailing area and more options for navigating in smaller harbours.

Five races confirmed four powerful semi-finalists today for the Louis Vuitton Trophy La Maddalena. They are the French/German boat All4One, Sweden”s Artemis, Emirates Team New Zealand and SYNERGY Russian Sailing Team.

Yacht Divisions announced for the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta 2010

The overall winning yacht of the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta 2010 will be named on the perpetual Silver Cup which is displayed in the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda. The owner of the vessel will be presented with a unique hand blown glass sculpture by Chihuly (pictured left) made especially for the event reflecting the colours of the Sardinian waters.

2010 ROLEX MIDDLE SEA RACE IS TAKING SHAPE

The Rolex Middle Sea Race takes place in the heart of the Mediterranean and covers one of the most beautiful courses in the world. Unique for a race of this length in that it starts and finishes in the same place, the 607-mile route includes the deep azure waters of Sicily and the Straits of Messina, along with the islands of Pantelleria and Lampedusa.

The French/German team All4One moved up to second equal place at the Louis Vuitton Trophy La Maddalena today and will race Sweden’s top-placed Artemis tomorrow to decide the winner of the round robin.

The other match between Emirates Team New Zealand and Italy’s Mascalzone Latino, both currently second equal, will be key to resolving the other top places. Tonight, all four boats are at the top of the points table with only one point separating them.
