Top sailing yacht have been attracted to the Porto Cervo to compete at the 2010 Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup including the 45 metre sailing yacht Saudade (MLT) and Salperton (CAY), and Hasso Plattner’s 44 metre Visione (GER), as well as the stunning classic-looking 42 metre J-Class, Ranger, Neville Crichton’s Shockwave (ex-Alfa Romeo 3) (NZL), Niklas Zennstrom’s Rán (GBR), Michael Cotton’s Whisper (IRL), and Claus-Peter Offen’s Y3K (GER).
Jaguar has announced a partnership with the British America’s Cup sailing team, TEAMORIGIN, with the single purpose of winning the America’s Cup for Great Britain. The first event that will see ‘TEAMORIGIN racing with Jaguar’ is during Cowes Week in August, when the team will race BMW ORACLE Racing, the current holder of the America’s Cup, in the 1851 Cup event.
Sporting stars will join teams sailing in the Artemis Challenge at Cowes Week. The race, an annual IMOCA 60 sprint round the Isle of Wight attracts some of the biggest names in ocean racing, where teams competing for a generous £10,000 charity prize fund, donated by Artemis Investment Management.
The Pendennis Cup 2010 from the 9th – 14th August, in Falmouth have 7 yachts confirmed for sailing event. There will be an entertainment programme that will complement the 5 days of competitive racing out on the waters of Falmouth Bay – giving owners and crews a chance to enjoy a “proper Cornish experience” and allowing them to enjoy Falmouth and its beautiful surroundings.
Burnett Yacht Design together with Arkin Pruva Argos Yachts in Antalya, Turkey are working on the construction of design no. 141, a new 83’ (25m) Schooner for a British client. The 25m superyacht is scheduled for completion in May 2011.
