The Brigantino S. Giorgio an historic Benetti Sailing Ship measures 51 metres and was built entirely in wood in 1921 at the Benetti shipyard in Viareggio. At the time, she was the largest brigantine on the Mediterranean. It is one of the largest sailing ships preserved inside of a museum.

Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island (OHPRI), the non-profit organization building Rhode Island’s Education at Sea school ship SSV Oliver Hazard Perry, has received a Shipbuilding Syndicate level pledge of $250,000 from the family and friends of Lieutenant Charles John Weschler, USN, to name the ship’s Great Cabin in his honor.

Today, British yachtsman Geoff Holt MBE won the coveted title of YJA Pantaenius Yachtsman of the Year for 2010. The announcement was made at an awards ceremony held at Trinity House, London. Discovery Yachts has announced plans to expand production facilities at its base in Harbour Close, Marchwood, taking over the remaining units on the site. The expansion, which will take place in February this year, will allow the company to build the award-winning Discovery 50 Catamaran alongside its monohull models, the Discovery 55 and Discovery 67.
