To celebrate the world release of the new 61 Series II Enclosed Flybridge motor yacht, Riviera hosted a pre-launch of the sparkling new vessel by towing 12 professional water-skiers the length of the Gold Coast’s Broadwater this morning.
Work began on the new and improved state of the art Quarterdeck Marina at Bitter End Yacht Club shortly after Easter. The new facility is scheduled to be completed for a July 4th Grand Re-Opening, and replaces what was already one of the most popular boutique-style destination marinas in the Caribbean.

Scheduled for September 8-11 and hosted by St. Francis Yacht Club, the event is in its 47th year and shows no signs of slowing down.
Amico Group, an Italian superyacht refit specialist has opened a new mega yacht refit yard called Cantiere Amico Loano. The new 8,500sq m refit yard will be able to service, repair and refit yachts and superyachts from 8m-55m (26ft-180ft) and has a 550t travel lift.

The key purpose of the partnership is the development of C&N Marinas in Brazil, and in technology exchange and marketing cross promotion.
The second edition of the Nespresso Cup came to a conclusion in Portofino with Andrea Recordati’s sailing yacht INDIO delivering a near emphatic victory in the Overall Division to lift the stylish Nespresso Cup Trophy, whilst Philippe Ligier’s Wally yacht Ryokan 2 snatched victory from S/Y INTI in the Performance Division in the very final race.

Internationally renowned Environmental Organisations will be heading to the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) on May 26th this month to partake in a ground-breaking environmentally based conference. The emphasis will be placed on ‘thinking globally – acting locally’ with the combined aim of championing clean and sustainable seas and oceans.
Renovation work is underway at Westhaven Marina located in downtown Auckland, New Zealand. The marina is replacing 106 of its berths with modern concrete floating pontoons. Bellingham Marine New Zealand was awarded the design/build contract for the project in December 2010. According to the company, crews arrived on site on March 13th, and the project is expected to be completed in July.
The opening day of the Nespresso Cup in Portofino, produced some close racing and magnificent battles in both divisions. “Racing today was good weather-wise,” said Nespresso Cup Race Ambassador Francesco de Angelis. “Sunny with a good breeze and we saw an interesting second race because there were some wind shifts which made it a bit more difficult.” In the Overall Division it was Indio (30.50m) that came out on top, winning both races despite the best efforts of Magic Carpet2 and Y3K to break their winning form
