Last Friday, the 2013 European Solar Prize, in the category ‘Media’, was awarded to PlanetSolar for the media exposure generated on completion of the first trip around the world powered only by solar energy (2010-2012).
The well known Italian builder, Canados, has introduced a new range of fast explorer superyachts, called Oceanic Yachts, varying in size from 90′ to 140′.
Horizon has proudly announced that the company has experienced a level of interest and activity higher than previous shows at the recently concluded Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show 2013. Four Horizon vessels were on display, including superyacht E88.
The mould for the first motor yacht Selene 78 Ocean Explorer has been successfully produced. Currently under construction at Jet-Tern Marine in China, the vessel is scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2015.
The next year’s 67th edition of the Seattle Boat Show, Indoors + Afloat, will run from January 24 to February 2. The largest boat on display will be the 120-foot expedition yacht Kahu by Fitzroy Yachts.
Saturday, December 7, 2013, will see expedition yacht Tara come back to France, after the 7-month Tara Oceans Polar Circle expedition around the North Pole.
This year, several Superyacht UK members have received the prestigious ISS Design & Leadership Award 2013. These include Pendennis, which has scooped the ISS prize in the ‘Best Refit’ category for the refit of luxury motor yacht A2.
Alloy superyacht CaryAli (AY44) has been honoured with the ISS Design Award 2013 in the ‘Best Motoryacht 24 – 40 Metre’ category at this year’s Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show. This robust explorer has been supplied with the windlass anchoring and stern handling capstan package, produced by Maxwell Marine.
The lovely and robust 50-metre expedition yacht I-Nova represents the latest collaboration between Cosmo Explorer and Cristiano Gatto. The two companies are currently working together on two new explorer concepts of 40+ and 60+ meters in LOA.
Based in China, Jet-Tern Marine, a builder of Selene yachts, is currently working on the brand new 28m superyacht Selene 92. Due to be delivered in Spring 2015, she has been beautifully designed by Guido de Groot.
